Hydro Electric Development

History was made in 2009 when Luss Estates installed its first Hydro Electric Development, one of only a handful of private investments of this nature throughout Scotland.
Harnessing the power of the the Douglas Water as it flows down the slopes of Glen Douglas to Loch Lomond, the 1MW scheme is a remarkable feat of engineering, and has been carefully designed to minimise impact on wildlife and scenery. In contrast, the potential environmental returns are significant, with all electricity generated sold on to the National Grid.
