Luss Highland Games, Loch Lomond's oldest traditional Highland Games returned this year amidst glorious sunshine. Traditional events were well attended, including heavy events including throwing the hammer, tossing the caber, putting the shot, tug o' war, and light events, such as athletics/track and field events. The Games were also host to very popular dancing and piping competitions. Side shows, along with trade and refreshment stands took advantage of the high numbers of people.

The Luss Highland Games is a very special event for the Clan Colquhoun, and this year it was hosted by Mr Patrick Colquhoun, elder son of the chieftain, Sir Malcolm Colquhoun. Accompanied by his wife, Mr Patrick Colquhoun led the pipe band through the historic village of Luss, long known as "the prettiest village in Scotland," and headed to the Luss Games Field to officially start the 2011 Games.

As ever, the Luss Games Committee, many of whom are employees of Luss Estates, worked tirelessly to ensure the Luss Highland Games ran smoothly and efficiently. With the sunshine bringing in an unprecedented number of visitors this year, traffic management and car parking operations were excellently managed by Loch Lomond Rugby Club. Other duties included Simon Miller and Peter Maclean registering in all the competitors and distributing prizes and Gordon Gallagher, ran the Piping Competition and Dennis controlling the Gates.
