The Loch Lomond Arms Hotel in Luss has a rich and varied history as a hostelry and hotel, welcoming locals and visitors alike for at least two centuries. Indeed, William Wordsworth and his sister Dorothy are reputed to have stayed during their tour of Scotland in 1803.

Times have, of course, moved on and today the Loch Lomond Arms Hotel is embarking on a major refurbishment which will ensure its position at the heart of the community.

As well as demolishing the mid twentieth-century extension to the rear of the property, the historic main wing of the building is being upgraded throughout with 14 stylish and comfortable new bedrooms, a new restaurant and bar area, and a smart new reception area. Owned, and now operated, by Luss Estates, the hotel is due to re-open in 2012.

Since being handed back under the control of Luss Estates, the Loch Lomond Arms Hotel is undergoing a £2.4million restoration and rennovation programme to turn the hotel back to its former glory of a traditional coach house / inn.

In order to undertake such extensive works, the Loch Lomond Arms Hotel is closed to the public for 2011, enabling the extensive works to be progressed throughout the year and is due to reopen in early 2012.

The demolition of the mid twentieth-century extension to the rear of the property is complete and work to upgrade the historic main wing of the building is due to start soon.

Sir Malcolm Colquhoun of Luss Estates commented: "The Lochlomond Arms dates back at least 200 years and significant internal upgrading is required to ensure its future. We have already made significant progress, and I would like to thank all of the loyal and hard working staff, as well as our many regular customers, for their continued support throughout this short period of upheaval."
