At Luss, we have Red, Roe and Fallow deer, which are controlled in order to prevent unsustainable population growth, which in turn would lead to degradation of their habitat, damage to young trees and agricultural crops. Venison is sold through a local game dealer. Although not a traditional "stalking" Estate, Roe and Red deer stalking can be arranged through the Estate Office. We are currently taking part in discussions with neighbouring Proprietors and Government Bodies with a view to the formation of a Deer Management Group for the Islands in Loch Lomond.
We also operate a modest well regarded driven pheasant shoot, which takes place over 12 days during the winter months. Shooting parties can be accommodated in the Estate's self catering cottages. Enquiries as to availability of driven and walked up pheasant shooting should be made to the Estate Office.
The Estate's fishings on the Rivers Leven, Fruin and Luss and Loch Lomond have been let to the Loch Lomond Angling Improvement Association for many years. The Estate is also an active participant in the Loch Lomond Fisheries Trust.
The Estate employs one Gamekeeper, who undertakes vermin control and general security over the Estate as well as organizing sporting activities.
