Working With Communities Award – Sponsored by The Exiteers

We are delighted to share that Arrochar Community Hydro has won the Working with Communities Award, sponsored by The Exiteers, at the Helping It Happen Awards held on 1st October in Edinburgh, hosted by Scottish Land & Estates.

The project began in 2018 with land donated by Luss Estates Company, enabling the creation of a hydroelectric scheme serving the communities of Luss, Arrochar, and Tarbet. Profits from the scheme are shared equally among the three communities, funding local initiatives and delivering long-term community benefit.

The land is leased on a peppercorn rent, and the project was initially proposed by Luss Estates Company, reflecting our ongoing commitment to sustainable, community-led development.
